Electoral Information

Council elections are held every four years in Queensland. The next elections will be held throughout the state on Saturday 15th March.

In the 2008 elections, the people of Queensland will be voting according to the new boundaries determined by the Local Government Reform.

Caretaker Arrangements

All councils are prohibited from making major policy decisions during the election caretaker period. The caretaker period commenced when nominations were called on 2 February 2008 until the close of polls on election day, Saturday 15 March 2008.
